As of April 03, 2017 WorkSafeBC requires that all joint health and safety committee members in North West Vancouver BC must receive 8 hours of instruction in JHSC joint health and safety committee Training North West Vancouver. Every business with 20 or more workers is required by WorkSafeBC regulations to have a functioning Joint Health and Safety Committee in place. Our online or classroom 8 hour JHSC joint health and safety committee online training Vancouver BC course, will assist employers and participants on how to start-up a committee at your workplace, how to effectively implement a JHSC, duties and functions of members and as a team, and the OHSR regulation. ​​

​A Minimum of 4 members must be present at your monthly JHSC joint health and safety committee meeting. All members must be trained. It is recommended to also train 1 to 2 alternates. 50% can be management reps and 50% can be employee reps. You cannot have more management reps on your committee than employee reps. For example 2 managers; 4 employees is good. Employee Reps must be elected by the workers.. The joint safety and health committee supports the employer's duty to ensure a healthy and safe workplace. The joint committee brings together representatives of the employer and the workers, to identify and help resolve health and safety issues in the workplace. The joint health and safety OHS committee plays an important role in your occupational health and safety program, giving workers and employers a way to work together to identify and find solutions to workplace health and safety issues. This 8 Hour course aims at helping participants to identify and interpret JHSC joint health and safety committee member's functions and duties and to carry out their responsibilities to promote workplace health and safety; how to start-up a committee at your workplace; how to effectively implement a JHSC joint health and safety committee, duties and functions of members and as a team; how/when to conduct incident investigations; how/when to conduct workplace inspections and compliance with the WorkSafeBC regulations. While this instructional jhsc curriculum is tailored for all regional workforces across BC, it fully qualifies your team to meet all worksafebc standards required for official joint health and safety committee training bc compliance.

✔ OPTION 1: 2026 ​​CLASSROOM - LIVE INSTRUCTOR LED
The Classroom WorkSafeBC JHSC Joint Health and Safety Committee Certification Refresher Training BC course is a full day course (9:00 am to 4:00 pm pacific - all 8 hours of required training material is covered in this time frame) and is taught LIVE by our instructor via zoom (virtual training). Questioning and answering period during this course is possible as it is a LIVE course with an actual instructor. The day will include 2 x 15 min breaks and 1 x 30 min lunch break. Each participant will either require access to their own PC or if you have multiple participants you can situate them in a room and project us from a audio/visual set up. After the course is complete all participants will be emailed their certificates. Once the live stream concludes, please complete your three final assessments and submit them to our office for regulatory filing. This is not a pass or fail course. If for any reason a participant does not receive a minimum of 80% on their final exams, we will simply email them back and advise them to re-look at the questions they got wrong. All participants are guaranteed to receive their certification.​

How do I know if my business requires a joint health and safety committee in BC?
If your workplace has 20 or more workers overall within your business, you need a joint health and safety committee. This includes any workplace where there are 20 or more workers employed at the workplace for longer than a month. WorkSafeBC Officers may also order that a joint committee be established in any other workplace or even if you have less than 20 workers.

Do all joint health and safety committee members in BC need to be trained and certified?
Yes. As per WorkSafeBC regulations. starting April 3, 2017, all new joint health and safety committee members in BC must receive eight hours of training and instruction. How often does a joint health and safety committee in BC need to have a meeting?
In BC, a joint health and safety committee must meet and conduct a meeting on a monthly basis (at least once per month).

How many joint health and safety committee members in BC do I need on my committee?
A joint health and safety committee in BC must have at least four members, and at least half of the members must be worker representatives. For the purpose of a joint committee, a worker representative must be someone who does not exercise managerial functions. Managerial functions generally relate to the overall direction at the workplace and may include disciplining workers and representing management in labour relations matters.​ A WorkSafeBC Officer may require you to have more than 4 members on your committee depending on the size of your business, number of employees, number of departments, number of locations and hazard rating. We recommend you have at least 6 members on your committee as a minimum (2 management reps, 4 employee reps). 1 management rep and the other 1 employee rep can be trained as alternates.

What is the difference between your online worksafebc joint health and safety committee self study training course compared to your classroom training course?
Our ONLINE WORKSAFEBC JHSC JOINT HEALTH AND SAFETY COMMITTEE TRAINING BC SELF STUDY COURSE course meets and exceeds all WorkSafeBC JHSC training requirements. This online course is the same course we teach in classroom - however - it is self study, meaning no instructor is available. You must study yourself. This course is a self paced course and has no time limit for completion. Students can complete their studying on their own time schedule or the employer can provide a deadline to each participant. Our online self study JHSC 8 Hour course consists of videos, powerpoints, sample forms and worksafebc booklets. All study material and exams will be automatically forwarded to your provided email address upon purchase. Download the study material and forward the study material to the other students (if required). ​Complete the 3 final exams and forward all the exam(s) pages to the email provided to you - by PDF scan document or by taking pictures of each exam page (information will be provided on the final exam copies). One of our instructors will mark the exams within 1 to 2 business days and email you their certification cards. This is not a pass or fail course (everyone passes). If anyone does not do well on any of the exams, our instructor will email the participant and advise on which questions need to be re-looked at.

Our CLASSROOM WORKSAFEBC JHSC JOINT HEALTH AND SAFETY COMMITTEE TRAINING BC SELF STUDY COURSE course is taught by a live instructor. Each course will be conducted via ZOOM web platform training. You can have each participant access a PC or have your team situated in a classroom and project us from an audio/video setup. The classroom course is scheduled from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. There will be 1 x 15 min break in the morning - 30 min lunch break - 1 x 15 min break in the afternoon. 

Can I pay for the online safety course(s) over the phone?
Yes, but only for large groups. We also do provide further group discounts for 25 or more participants. Even though our online purchasing system is a very secure platform, you do have the option of paying for your course over the phone.

What forms of payment do you accept?
If you purchase your course(s) through our website purchasing platform, we can only accept credit card payment. We accept the following credit cards: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover and JCB. We also accept credit card payments over the phone for 25 or more participants.

I don't have time to finish my course today, can I leave and come back to complete my course?
Yes, can you leave your course at anytime without worrying about losing your progress. This course is self paced and has no time limit for completion. You can forward us the 3 exams for each participant by email anytime you like. 

Upon completion of the course, can the course certificates be printed?
Yes, when you forward us your 3 completed exams and pass your final exams successfully, we will email you your certificate within 1 to 2 business days. No one fails the course. We will email you to correct questions if for any reason you do not achieve the 80% pass mark for each exam. 

What kind of computer do I need to take your online courses?
To take our courses, we recommend using the latest version of your favorite browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome) on your PC or Mac computer.

Do I have to take an exam at the end of the online course?
Yes.  All of our courses are competency-centered, meaning that learners must complete an assessment(s) of some type (i.e. Exam) in order to demonstrate an adequate level of understanding of the topics presented throughout the course.  This provides a tremendous level of due diligence which is required to ensure that reasonable precautions are taken for the safety and health of the learner. 

What if I fail or don't do well on the exam?
A mark of 80% must be achieved on each exam in order to receive a certificate of completion. Participants are able to repeat the course up to three times in efforts to achieve the pass mark. So in reality, no one ever fails a course.

Do you provide group discounts for businesses?
Yes, group discounts are available for groups of 25 or more. 

What is your refund policy?
There are no refunds on digital products. However, we at Western Health and Safety Consulting will do what we can to ensure our clients satisfaction.
