Our Course Meets with WCB COR Requirements for Joint Health and Safety Committee Training, Incident Investigations and Workplace Safety Inspections

As of April 03, 2017 WorkSafeBC requires that all joint health and safety committee members in Burnaby must receive 8 hours of instruction in JHSC Training. Every business with 20 or more workers is required by WorkSafeBC regulations to have a functioning Joint Health and Safety Committee in place. Western Health and Safety Consulting is proud to present our 8 hour classroom and online JHSC training Burnaby (JOSH Committee Training Burnaby) course which meets and exceeds all new WorkSafeBC requirements. Our online or classroom 8 hour JHSC online training Burnaby course, will assist employers and participants on how to start-up a committee at your workplace, how to effectively implement a JHSC, duties and functions of members and as a team, and the OHSR regulation.
A Minimum of 4 members must be present at your monthly JHSC meeting. All members must be trained. It is recommended to also train 1 to 2 alternates. 50% can be management reps and 50% can be employee reps. You cannot have more management reps on your committee than employee reps. For example 2 managers; 4 employees is good. Employee Reps must be elected by the workers.. The joint safety and health committee supports the employer's duty to ensure a healthy and safe workplace. The joint committee brings together representatives of the employer and the workers, to identify and help resolve health and safety issues in the workplace. The joint OHS committee plays an important role in your occupational health and safety program, giving workers and employers a way to work together to identify and find solutions to workplace health and safety issues. This 8 Hour course aims at helping participants to identify and interpret JHSC member's functions and duties and to carry out their responsibilities to promote workplace health and safety; how to start-up a committee at your workplace; how to effectively implement a JHSC, duties and functions of members and as a team; how/when to conduct incident investigations; how/when to conduct workplace inspections and compliance with the WorkSafeBC regulations.

2025 CLASSROOM - LIVE INSTRUCTOR LED (ZOOM 9:00 am to 4:00 pm)
The classroom JHSC training course is a full day course (9:00 am to 4:00 pm pacific - all 8 hours of required training material is covered in this time frame) and is taught LIVE by our instructor via zoom (virtual training). Questioning and answering period during this course is possible as it is a LIVE course with an actual instructor. The day will include 2 x 15 min breaks and 1 x 30 min lunch break. Each participant will either require access to their own PC or if you have multiple participants you can situate them in a room and project us from a audio/visual set up. After the course is complete all participants will be emailed their certificates.
2025 ONLINE - SELF STUDY SELF PACED (NO INSTRUCTOR)
The online JHSC training course is a self study online course and does not include a live instructor. Students will study the 8 hour material on their own time (or we recommend giving your team a deadline for completion). There is NO TIME LIMIT TO COMPLETE OUR ONLINE COURSE and is SELF PACED. This course consists of videos, power point presentations, written handouts, WCB booklets, example forms and 3 exams. Study the 8 Hour JHSC Material and Email Us the 3 Exams When Finished. Your Exams Will be Marked within 1 to 2 business days and a Certificate of Completion will be emailed to the person who send us the exams. You may email us the 3 exams anytime you like as there is no time limit for completion. This is not a pass or fail course. If for any reason a participant does not receive a minimum of 80% on their final exams, we will simply email them back and advise them to re-look at the questions they got wrong. All participants are guaranteed to receive their certification.
